MAX PLANCK SOCIETY DELEGATION VISITS KCCR TO BOLSTER GERMAN-AFRICAN RESEARCH TIES

A high-level delegation from the Max Planck Society on 11 march, visited the Kumasi Centre for Collaborative Research (KCCR) to strengthen scientific partnerships between Germany and Africa

Prof. Dr Tobias Bonhoeffer, Director at the Max Planck Institute for Biological Intelligence and advisor to the President of the Max Planck Society on cooperation with African partners, as well as Dr. Michaela Hergersberg, Scientific Officer from the Division for International Relations at the headquarters of the Max Planck Society in Germany, met with KCCR leadership to explore expanded collaboration in research and scientific innovation. Discussions also focused on fostering academic exchange and supporting early-career researchers.

The delegation toured KCCR’s state-of-the-art laboratories, guided by Scientific Director Prof. Richard Odame Phillips. They witnessed firsthand KCCR’s cutting-edge research in tropical medicine, as well as its unique model of uniting scientists and international partners to tackle pressing public health challenges.

The visit reinforced a shared commitment to scientific excellence and cemented KCCR’s role as a vital hub for collaborative research addressing global health priorities.
