KCCR’S PROF. AUGUSTINA ANGELINA SYLVERKEN HONOURED AT FIRST GHANA ACADEMY OF ARTS AND SCIENCE WOMEN’S AWARDS

Prof. Augustina Angelina Sylverken, Group Leader of the One Health Virology Research Group at KCCR, has received an award recognizing her contributions to scientific leadership, pandemic preparedness, health innovation, and the advancement of women in STEM.

She received the award on 30th September 2026 from the Ghana Academy of Arts and Science (GAAS), during the Academy’s 1st GAAS Women’s Awards.

Following the ceremony, Prof. Sylverken presented the award to KCCR’s Scientific Director, Prof Alexander Debrah sharing the recognition with the wider KCCR community.

The award highlights the growing recognition of Ghanaian women scientists leading research that strengthens health security and pandemic preparedness, both in Ghana and beyond. KCCR congratulates Prof. Sylverken on this well-deserved honour.
