On August 14th, 2025, a delegation of US Army scientists visited the Kumasi Centre for Collaborative Research in Tropical Medicine (KCCR) as part of an initiative to strengthen collaboration between military research institutions and international scientific organizations.

The visit was coordinated by Dr. Ernest Adankwah, Deputy Head of the Laboratories at KCCR. The delegation was given a guided tour of KCCR’s facilities, including its molecular biology laboratories, diagnostics units, and data management systems. The tour highlighted KCCR’s capabilities in public health research, disease surveillance, and biomedical science.

As part of the program, the army personnel received detailed briefings on ongoing projects at KCCR. These included research activities in infectious diseases, diagnostics development, pathogen genomics, and epidemiological tracking. Laboratory staff provided technical presentations on methodologies, tools, and data systems currently in use.

Structured interactive sessions were held between the KCCR research teams and the army personnel. These sessions focused on sharing information about scientific workflows, research priorities, and opportunities for joint activities.
This visit forms part of broader efforts to enhance cross-institutional partnerships in global health research and preparedness, and to foster technical cooperation between military and civilian research entities.
