The KCCR Labs team successfully hosted an engaging 5-day workshop on Next Generation Sequencing (NGS) for Comparative Genomics and Bioinformatics. Held from November 25 to 29, 2024, at KCCR, the workshop emphasized the application of NGS techniques to study bacterial and viral pathogens responsible for diseases. It brought together participants from diverse backgrounds, eager to enhance their skills and knowledge in genomic research and bioinformatics.

The hands-on training covered essential wet lab techniques, including nucleic acid extraction, library preparation, and data sequencing, offering participants a comprehensive understanding of the processes involved in generating high-quality sequencing data. In the field of Bioinformatics, participants explored data analysis, learning to utilize advanced tools to extract meaningful insights from sequencing results, thus bridging the gap between raw data and actionable conclusions.

Participants also gained a deeper appreciation for the interdisciplinary nature of genomic research, combining laboratory work with computational analysis to address complex biological questions. The workshop sessions fostered collaboration and knowledge sharing among attendees, further enriching the learning experience.

The participants were privileged to learn from experts in Genomics and Bioinformatics. These resource persons provided guidance, sharing their expertise through detailed instructions, practical demonstrations, and insightful discussions. Their mentorship ensured that attendees left the workshop with a strong foundation in cutting-edge techniques, poised to apply these skills in addressing real-world research challenges.

The workshop concluded with a sense of accomplishment and enthusiasm among the participants, who expressed confidence in applying their newly acquired skills to their research projects.
