A delegation from the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) led by the Country Director, Danielle T. Barradas, Ph.D. visited the Kumasi Centre for Collaborative Research in Tropical Medicine (KCCR) as part of their working tour to the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST). This visit forms part of the CDC’s broader efforts to strengthen partnerships with public health training and research institutions across Ghana.

During the visit, the CDC team engaged with KCCR scientists and leadership to gain a deeper understanding of the Centre’s capabilities in disease surveillance, outbreak investigation, and public health workforce development. These focus areas reflect the CDC’s strategic priorities in the West African region and underscore a shared commitment to building resilient health systems.

The visit reaffirmed the longstanding collaboration between KCCR and the CDC, while opening doors for deeper cooperation in research, training, and capacity building for Ghana’s public health sector.
