Two workshops on data analysis and epidemiology were recently organized by the Infectious Disease Epidemiology Group in Collaboration with the Bernhard Notch Institute of Tropical Medicine to enhance research and data management skills among hospital and research staff.

The first workshop, a 2-day session on the basic principles of data analysis, was held at St. Xavior Hospital in Assin Fuso. Facilitated by colleagues from the Kumasi Centre for Collaborative Research and the Bernhard Nocht Institute in Hamburg, Germany, participants learned essential techniques in data management and statistical testing. They also received hands-on training using Jamovi statistical software to analyze data effectively.

Following this, a 3-day workshop on epidemiology and regression analysis took place at the Kumasi Centre for Collaborative Research. Conducted in collaboration with experts from the Bernhard Nocht Institute, the sessions focused on the principles of epidemiological study design and advanced regression methods for different data formats. Participants explored the theoretical background of these methods and applied them using R statistical software to fit regression models to their own project data.
