KCCR STRENGTHENS EMERGENCY PREPAREDNESS THROUGH FIRST AID AND EMERGENCY TRAINING

May 13, 2026

In line with efforts to remain compliant with HEFRA certification requirements and promote a safe working environment, the Kumasi Centre for Collaborative Research in Tropical Medicine organized comprehensive First Aid and Emergency Training for staff.

The training was designed to equip participants with practical lifesaving skills and emergency response techniques necessary for handling medical emergencies effectively within the workplace and beyond. Through interactive demonstrations and hands-on practical sessions, staff gained valuable experience in responding confidently to a variety of emergency situations.

Participants were taken through essential areas including Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) for both adults and children, the proper use of Automated External Defibrillators (AEDs), basic first aid application, and emergency response procedures for choking incidents. The training also covered the correct use of the recovery position and other important safety and emergency care practices.

The practical nature of the sessions allowed staff to actively engage with instructors, ask questions, and develop the confidence needed to provide immediate assistance during emergencies before professional medical care becomes available.

The initiative reflects KCCR’s continued commitment to workplace safety, staff welfare, and institutional excellence, while reinforcing the Centre’s dedication to maintaining high standards in health, safety, and emergency preparedness.
