KCCR WELCOMES PROF. ELLIS OWUSU-DABO AS NEW CHAIRMAN OF THE ADVISORY BOARD

The Kumasi Centre for Collaborative Research in Tropical Medicine (KCCR) is pleased to announce Professor Ellis Owusu-Dabo as its new Advisory Board Chairman, appointed by the Health Minister Hon. Kwabena Mintah Akandoh, effective March 1, 2026, for a four year term.

A distinguished medical doctor, epidemiologist, and Professor of Global Health at the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST), Prof. Owusu-Dabo brings a wealth of experience to the position. His remarkable contributions to public health research and academic leadership have been felt both in Ghana and internationally.

He is deeply connected to the history of KCCR, having served as its first Scientific Director a role in which he was instrumental in laying the foundation for the Centre’s growth and its strong international reputation. Most recently, he served as the Pro Vice-Chancellor of KNUST from 2020 to 2024 and has also held the position of Dean of the School of Public Health.

In his new capacity as Chairman of the Advisory Board, Professor Owusu-Dabo will provide strategic leadership and guidance to further KCCR’s mission. His focus will be on advancing cutting-edge research, fostering innovation, and strengthening capacity building in the fields of tropical medicine and global health.

KCCR is confident that his profound expertise in infectious disease research and epidemiology will be invaluable in guiding the Centre toward its next phase of impact and growth.
