The German Corporation for International Cooperation (GIZ) recently embarked on an appraisal mission. This mission, primarily aimed at enhancing the local pharmaceutical sector with a special focus on vaccine production, included a significant visit to KNUST that included a tour of facilities at Kumasi Centre for Collaborative Research in Tropical Medicine (KCCR).
The core objective of the GIZ mission was to engage with key stakeholders in the Ghanaian Pharmaceutical Manufacturing sector. This engagement sought to derive crucial insights that would shape the mission’s activities effectively.
During their visit, the Vice Chancellor of the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST), Prof. Mrs. Rita Akosua Dickson represented by Prof Ellis Owusu Dabo (Pro Vice-Chancellor) pledged KNUST’s support for the vaccine project.
At KCCR on 12th January 2023, the GIZ team interacted with various researchers dedicated to the mission’s goals, specifically in pandemic preparedness. The discussions underscored the commitment of the GIZ mission to address critical healthcare challenges, emphasizing the importance of collaborative efforts in healthcare development.
