The Kumasi Centre for Collaborative Research in Tropical Medicine (KCCR), KNUST, had the distinct honour of hosting His Excellency Frank-Walter Steinmeier, President of the Federal Republic of Germany.

His visit underscored Germanyβs continued commitment to advancing research collaboration, vaccine development, and global health innovation between Ghana and Germany.
KCCR is a proud partner of the GIZ PharmaVax Ghana Programme, co-financed by the European Union (EU) and the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ), an initiative aimed at strengthening local vaccine production and scientific capacity in Ghana.

President Steinmeier toured our state-of-the-art laboratories, witnessed live demonstrations of cutting-edge technologies, and interacted with researchers and graduate students contributing to global health and tropical medicine advancements.

βHis visit affirms our collaborative model, validates our scientific approach, and inspires our continued commitment to advancing global health through research and innovation,β Prof. Richard Odame Phillips, Scientific Director, KCCR.
This historic visit marks yet another milestone in the strong Ghana-Germany partnership built on shared vision, trust, and innovation in science.
