Yaw Ampem Amoako is a Consultant Physician and Senior Lecturer at the Department of Medicine, School of Medicine and Dentistry and a Senior Clinical Research Fellow at the Kumasi Centre for Collaborative Research of the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology in Kumasi, Ghana. His research interests are in the epidemiology and control of infectious diseases and Non-Communicable Diseases. He trained in Ghana, UK and South Africa and has nearly two decades of experience in the teaching and practice of clinical medicine. He is a key resource for postgraduate training of internal medicine residents during their membership and fellowship training with the West African College of Physicians (WACP) and Ghana College of Physicians (GCPS). He is an Examiner for the Fellowship examinations of the WACP and GCPS. He has served as Consultant and provided technical advisory services and authored several reports for several national and international governmental and non-governmental organizations including the Ghana Health Service, Ministries of Health (Ghana & Liberia) and the WHO. He currently holds appointment as a Technical Advisor/ Expert to the Non-Communicable Diseases (NCD) Control Programme of the Ghana Health Service and serves of the Multisectoral Steering Committee on NCDs of Ghana’s Ministry of Health. He works to achieve excellence in the fields of academia and research through evidence-based Clinical/ medical practice, Research, Teaching, and the Integration of public health in clinical practice. He has over 60 publications in reputable peer reviewed journals (ORCID: 0000-0002-4642-789X).
