User Fees

KCCR clients will be given a choice of contributing to KCCR running costs by providing 1. Bench Fees (see below) plus 5% of project budget as Administrative Fees OR 2. 15% of project budget as total User Fees including Bench Fees* and Administrative Fees. *) Provision of bench, office and storage space will be negotiated for each project individually. Administrative Fees will cover assistance in - management of immigration and customs procedures, - financial management including administration of project funds, facilitation of banking services, etc., - provision of accommodation, - recruitment of local personnel and preparation of local employment contracts, - facilitation of liaison with local health authorities, ethics committee, and scientific community. Bench Fees Laboratory Fees: Per scientist: €50/day, €200/week, €600/month, €6,000/year includes use of all equipment including BSL3 facility, autoclaves, incinerator, biosafety hood, microscopes, incubators, cooled centrifuges, ELISA reader, thermal cyclers, agarose gel electrophoresis, transluminator, flow cytometer, deep freezers, availability of liquid nitrogen. Office Fees: Per Scientist: €20/day, €50/week, €150/month, €1,500/year includes use of all equipment including telephone, telefax, xerox, internet access via satellite connection, server, Windows and MacIntosh systems; Epi-Info, 4th Dimension, STATA, JMP, etc. Seminar Room Fees: €100/day (for 40 persons) Storage space (incl. freezer/fridge): For 10 sqm €50/month without supervision, €100/month including supervision Guest House Rates Per room including king-size bed, free internet access and fully equipped kitchen shared by two parties: Regular: €18/night, €110/week, €350/month, €3.500/year Air conditioned: €27/night, €170/week, €500/month, €5.000/year For KNUST projects with low budget (e.g. in the context of postgraduate training) KCCR sponsorship for the reduction of bench fees can be applied for. Vehicle Rent (4-Wheel Drive) Kilometre charges: €0.52/km including driver, €0.32/km including driver if car is provided by the project (min. charge €20/day). Overnight trips require allowances for drivers of €20/night. Special conditions for use of KCCR facilities for KNUST postgraduate training Eligibility: Research projects which are limited to serve individual KNUST Masters or PhD training purposes and which are solely funded by KNUST institutional funds or Ghanaian national funds. Conditions: - Exemption from 1+1 rule: Eligible projects do not necessarily need an international collaboration partner as otherwise required by KCCR Statutes for all projects. - Reduced KCCR User Fees: Eligible projects are allowed to use KCCR facilities by contributing 20% of Bench Fees and no Administrative Fees provided that laboratory work is performed upon supervision by a KNUST staff scientist (therefore only applicable to 2 users).
